Banana is the only fruit available through out the year, it is highly perishable and sensitive crop. Banana provides a more balanced diet than any other fruit and is normally considered as poor man's fruit. But the flow of the production is irregular. Harvesting is evident from July through December in the remaining months, the arrival is low. The entire production is mostly from conventional plantation and of local variety. Considering these factors, it is presumed that the demand for this fruit will increase in forthcoming years. In order to achieve the optimum production level under adverse conditions like declining water level it is necessary to concentrate on odd season plantation. Frequently demand for quality fruit is increasing tremendously. To fulfill the requirement of supply of quality fruit round the year for domestic as well as export market, Tissue Culture proves to be a boon. Uncertainty of nature and decreasing rate of fruits in main season is a major hurdle for farmers.
